Hello Chirawut, It is good to find a Thai person using this site. I am very interested to find out what the Thais really thought of the airfield project. The local villagers from Ban Kok Talat, as it was then, had their lives turned up-side down during those years 1963/1968. They must have many stories they could tell about the young British soldiers who almost took over their village. Do you know anyone who remembers us or who worked with us? I would love to hear their side of the story, even it it made me blush!

Best regards Clem

I met a former Royal Army Engineer by the name of Dave Wilcox. He was stationed here in Ban Kok Talart in '63. He and his Thai wife and showed me around the airfield while they were on holiday back here. I would like to put Dave in touch with some of his mates, although he isn't an internet sort of guy.

Hi Folks, I was posted to Thailand around 67/68 to help with the road. I was a L/cpl and based  at Gillman Barracks prior to the posting. I was mainly in M/T although I did run the Corporals club for a while as the chap who was running it had to return to UK on compassiomnate grounds. I was also a member of the flute and drum band and played at the Embassy in Bangkok. I recall a certain General Pearson arriving at the airfield and at the last minute the small plane swerved and landed in the carpark so we were saluting the wrong way. His Aide was Captain Pearson so he was amused to be collected by L/cpl Pearson.  Regards Ron Pearson
